Key Points:
- Alien Isolation 2 will be available on a physical disc, suggesting a possible 2027 release date to align with Sony's planned end of disc game manufacturing in January 2028.
- Sony's decision to stop producing physical PS5 games by 2028 limits the window for boxed releases, impacting publishers like SEGA who want to offer physical editions.
- While physical copies could still be released on platforms like Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S after 2028, the developer's confidence in a physical PS5 version implies a 2027 launch is likely.
- The developer emphasizes maintaining the "analogue nature" of Alien, making a physical release a core aspect, which further supports the anticipated timeline.
- The shrinking market for physical game releases reflects broader industry trends, though there remains a dedicated audience; this confirmation narrows the expected release window but could still change during development.
