BMW's new i7 xDrive EVs will offer longer range and faster charging
Key Points:
- BMW unveiled its 2027 7-series lineup featuring the most extensive update ever, including two i7 electric vehicles, a plug-in hybrid, two internal combustion engine (ICE) models, and a V8-powered M model, all based on the new "Neue Klasse" technology with a fresh design language.
- The new design includes a "monolithic" luxury aesthetic with minimalist crystal headlights, a light-up kidney grille called Iconic Glow, a distinctive "boat-tail-like" character line, and an "Individual Dual-Finish" paint option combining matte and metallic finishes.
- Interior upgrades feature a 31.3-inch 8K BMW Theater Screen for rear passengers with streaming, gaming, and video call capabilities, plus a Digital Premium package offering 5G data, TiVo video app, games, and a Drive Recorder; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
- The i7 electric sedans boast improved battery packs with 20% higher energy density, up to 350 miles EPA range, 250 kW fast charging (10-80% in 28 minutes), adaptive recuperation, and AI-powered charging route planning; prices start at $106,200 for the i7 50 xDrive and $124,700 for the i7 60 xDrive.
- Additional models include the 750e xDrive plug-in hybrid with 483 hp arriving in late 2026, and the 740 and 740 xDrive ICE vehicles with up to 394 hp launching later this year; all variants will be produced on a single line at BMW’s Dingolfing plant.
