Caleb Williams has arrived as a top-tier quarterback
NBC Sports • • sports
Key Points:
- Caleb Williams has emerged as a top-tier NFL franchise quarterback following his strong 34-point performance against the Seahawks, a defense that recently limited Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to just three points.
- The current top four NFL quarterbacks are considered to be Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Caleb Williams, with Lamar Jackson temporarily ranked fifth due to injury setbacks.
- Williams outperformed Mahomes in recent matchups against Seattle, demonstrating higher passing efficiency and key plays that contributed to the Bears' victory.
- Despite missing three games with a hamstring injury, Williams is a leading candidate for the NFL MVP award, with odds at 5-1, trailing only Allen, Brock Purdy, and Burrow.
- If the Bears maintain their performance and secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC, Williams is expected to receive significant MVP consideration, though his ultimate goal remains winning the Super Bowl MVP.
