NBC Sports • • sports
Key Points:
- Giants running back Cam Skattebo, sidelined after a key overtime fumble in Week 5 and limited to six snaps with no touches in Week 6, is expected to return to the running back rotation for Sunday's game against Houston following a strong week of practice.
- Skattebo acknowledged learning a lesson from his recent mistakes, emphasizing his commitment to correcting errors and contributing fully regardless of his role on the team.
- The Giants have sent a clear message about accountability, highlighted by the recent release of running back Najee Harris after public criticism of the team's running game, with Skattebo noting that no player is safe if performance is lacking.
- Through six games, Skattebo has 81 carries for 294 yards and one touchdown, averaging 3.6 yards per carry, and will be relied upon to bolster the Giants' ground game to support rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy's first NFL start.
- The Giants' running back usage in the previous game was split among Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary, Najee Harris, and McCarthy, but the team seeks a more consistent rushing attack moving forward.
