Evolution' To End With Season 20 On Paramount+
Deadline • • general
Key Points:
- Criminal Minds: Evolution will end with its 20th season on Paramount+, marking the first cancellation under the new Paramount+ leadership team led by Casey Bloys.
- Despite the series' continued strong performance and presence in Paramount+'s Top 10, the decision likely reflects cost considerations and the show's broadcast-style format on a streaming platform.
- Season 20, set to premiere in 2027, has already finished production, meaning the series will not receive a proper conclusion, a decision described as sudden by executive producer Erica Messer.
- Criminal Minds has had a combined 20-season run, tying it as the fifth longest-running drama series, and has transitioned from CBS to Paramount+ with Evolution after the original series' cancellation.
- The show stars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, and others, and is produced by 20th Television and CBS Studios, with a dedicated team of executive producers including Messer and Breen Frazier.
