The Verge • • general
Key Points:
- Starting October 9th, free users of Google Gemini will be limited to the Flash Lite model, losing access to the standard Flash model unless they subscribe to Google AI Plus for $4.99/month.
- The Google AI Plus subscription will no longer include access to Gemini Pro, with affected users receiving email notifications about the change.
- Access to the top-tier Gemini Pro model and the advanced "Deep Think" reasoning option will be restricted to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, costing $19.99 and $99.99 per month, respectively.
- Users can still select low, medium, and high effort levels for each Gemini model, but higher effort levels will consume usage limits more quickly.
