Key Points:
- Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew trailer features psychedelic visuals and is notably set to Led Zeppelin’s iconic song “Stairway to Heaven,” marking the first time the band has ever licensed the track.
- Gerwig secured the song’s use by personally showing the film and sharing her vision with Led Zeppelin members Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, who both appreciated the spiritual journey theme and their love for C.S. Lewis.
- The film draws direct inspiration from 1960s and ’70s British rock and roll, with Gerwig describing her approach as creating a “rock opera,” reflected in the trailer’s tone and style.
- The rare licensing of “Stairway to Heaven” serves as a significant endorsement of the film’s quality by Plant and Page, raising expectations ahead of its theatrical release on February 12, 2027, and Netflix debut on April 2, 2027.
