John Lynch on Brandon Aiyuk: We'll look for a path that works for both sides
NBC Sports • • sports
Key Points:
- Brandon Aiyuk has filed for reinstatement from the 49ers’ left squad list and is expected to visit the team facility on Friday to resume his football career.
- Once reinstated, the 49ers face three options: keep Aiyuk on the active roster, trade him, or release him, with releasing seen as the most likely due to lack of trade interest and statements from coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch.
- Lynch emphasized the team’s focus remains on their successful 6-1 season but acknowledged the unique nature of Aiyuk’s situation, stating they are working with the NFL management council to find the best solution.
- While Lynch left open the possibility of Aiyuk returning to the team, he indicated the situation is fluid and more details will be provided next week; he also noted Aiyuk’s new agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is cooperative.
