Lane Kiffin shocked over kickoff time vs. Alabama, says SEC doesn't want LSU to win
CBS Sports • • sports
Key Points:
- The SEC scheduled the Alabama vs. LSU game on Nov. 7 as a mid-afternoon kickoff instead of the usual night game, surprising LSU coach Lane Kiffin who assumed it would be a primetime matchup based on the last 16 years of tradition.
- Kiffin expressed suspicion that the SEC may be punishing LSU by moving the game out of its usual night slot, especially after recent legal disputes involving him, LSU, and the league office.
- Historically, LSU has struggled against Alabama in night games at Tiger Stadium, holding a 1-6 record in the last seven such matchups since 2012, despite the intimidating night atmosphere.
- The last time Alabama and LSU met in the afternoon was in 2019, a highly anticipated top-3 matchup that also did not take place under the lights.
- With LSU likely to have at least two losses before this game, a defeat to Alabama would severely hurt their College Football Playoff chances, adding pressure on Kiffin to win regardless of kickoff time.
