IGN • • entertainment
Key Points:
- Magic: The Gathering's third Marvel crossover set, Darkhold Destiny, explores a more magical storyline featuring Doctor Strange, Asgardians, and villains like Dormammu and Hela using the Darkhold to invade the multiverse.
- Unlike previous sets, Wizards of the Coast created an original story and unique Marvel character designs that blend into Magic's multiverse, with characters like Scarlet Witch reimagined in an MTG style.
- The set emphasizes spellcasting across three magic schools: Arcane (Doctor Strange and allies), Divine (Asgardians), and Dark (villains and some heroes like Ghost Rider), with a focus on instants, sorceries, and unique enchantments.
- Darkhold Destiny will include standard products like booster packs and bundles, plus four themed commander decks (Strange Academy, Gods of Asgard, Midnight Sons, Lords of Hel), each available in foil collector editions, along with special scene boxes and promo cards.
- Wizards of the Coast plans to debut the original Marvel story through a comic collaboration with Image Comics in February, followed by another comic near the set's April 2027 launch.
