MacRumors • • technology
Key Points:
- The new Apple TV 4K supports connecting up to four HomePods positioned as front-left, front-right, rear-left, and rear-right, creating an all-Apple surround sound system for home theaters.
- Users can connect four HomePod mini 2 speakers or mix pairs of HomePod mini 2 and full-sized HomePod 2 speakers, provided the front and rear pairs match.
- Apple uses computational audio technology to automatically calibrate audio timing and levels by recognizing each speaker's position in the room.
- Previous Apple TV 4K models are limited to connecting only two HomePods for stereo sound.
