Key Points:

- Lerner expressed pride in the first six episodes produced under her leadership and praised the cast, crew, and writers, calling the experience the most joyous of her career.
- "Newlyweds," starring Téa Leoni and Tim Daly with Jamie Lee Curtis in a recurring role, is described as a later-in-life love story about an impulsive marriage between a free-spirited woman and a buttoned-up professor.
- NBC confirmed Lerner's departure was due to creative differences; the show is one of only two comedies NBC picked up for the 2026-2027 season, premiering on October 23.
