Report: Vikings are trending toward starting Carson Wentz on Monday night
NBC Sports • • sports
Key Points:
- The Minnesota Vikings are considering starting backup quarterback Carson Wentz over Kyler Murray for Monday night's game against the Buffalo Bills, primarily due to Murray's hamstring injury and recent ineffective performances.
- Officially, the Vikings state they are evaluating Murray's injury, but reports from ESPN's Adam Schefter indicate a trend toward Wentz starting.
- Murray struggled even against a weakened Lions defense, and head coach Kevin O’Connell showed a lack of confidence by opting to punt late in the game instead of attempting a crucial fourth-down conversion.
- If Wentz starts and performs well against the Bills, it could significantly reduce Murray’s playing time moving forward.
