RTX 5080 and RX 7900 XTX showed almost identical FPS in Ace Combat 8 in 4K
Key Points:
- Benchmarking of NVIDIA GeForce RTX and AMD Radeon RX graphics cards was conducted using Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, developed with Unreal Engine 5 featuring Nanite and Lumen, on a Windows 11 24H2 system with DirectX 12 and an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU.
- At native 4K resolution and maximum settings, only the GeForce RTX 5090 achieved a stable 60 fps, with 54 minimum and 60 average frames per second, while the RTX 4090 followed with 44 minimum and 48 average fps.
- Mid-range GPUs like the GeForce RTX 3060 and RTX 4070 struggled significantly, delivering as low as 10 minimum and 12 average fps for the RTX 3060, and 22 average fps for the RTX 4070.
- AMD's previous-generation flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX performed closely to the new GeForce RTX 5080, with 33 minimum and 37 average fps versus 35 minimum and 38 average fps, respectively, and outperformed the newer Radeon RX 9070 XT and both GeForce RTX 4080 versions.
- The Radeon RX 7900 XTX demonstrated strong performance on RDNA 3 architecture, surpassing the RDNA 4-based RX 9070 XT and indicating competitive viability against recent NVIDIA offerings in demanding 4K gaming scenarios.
