The Creator of 'Crystal Lake' Explains (Again) Why There's No Hockey Mask in the Show
Gizmodo • • entertainment
Key Points:
- Peacock's new prequel series "Crystal Lake" focuses on Pamela Voorhees, played by Linda Cardellini, and is set before the events of the original Friday the 13th movies, notably before the iconic hockey mask appears.
- The series intentionally excludes Jason Voorhees' signature hockey mask, which only becomes part of his character starting in Friday the 13th Part III, to maintain continuity with the timeline.
- Creator Brad Caleb Kane clarified that the absence of the hockey mask is not due to rights issues, but a creative choice since the show predates the mask's introduction in the franchise.
- "Crystal Lake" consists of eight episodes currently streaming on Peacock, promising plenty of gore while staying true to the early lore of the Friday the 13th saga.
