The next Scouring book revealed: Wrath of Terra

Key Points:

• John French's novel Wrath of Terra explores the aftermath of the Siege of Terra, focusing on the struggle to reclaim Mars from the Dark Mechanicum, whose presence is a sacrilege to loyal Mechanicus factions eager to retake the sacred world.
• The Blood Angels are depicted grappling with the profound shock and grief over the death of their primarch Sanguinius, experiencing a loss that deeply affects their identity and behavior, particularly through the character Apollyon.
• French highlights the challenge of portraying intense emotions like grief in Space Marines, who express feelings in heightened, often terrifying ways rather than typical human responses, emphasizing their grand scale and internal turmoil.
• The book features significant character interactions, including primarchs reflecting on Sanguinius, a tense dialogue between Malcador’s chosen, and a poignant moment between Apollyon and a Space Wolf, showcasing diverse perspectives within the narrative.
• Writing Wrath of Terra involved balancing established lore with new thematic elements of uncertainty and shattered purpose in the post-Horus Heresy era, while maintaining continuity with the preceding novel Ashes of the Imperium to create a cohesive series experience.
