- Scott Foley returns to "Scrubs" in Season 2, Episode 3, playing Sean, who reconnects with Elliot after she ends her boring new relationship.
- The show retcons Sean's previous relationship with Kim, J.D.'s ex and mother of his son, effectively ignoring this past storyline to focus on current narratives.
- Showrunner Aseem Batra explains the decision to drop certain continuity elements, prioritizing storytelling over strict canon adherence due to limited episode time.
- Elliot and Sean cautiously rekindle their relationship, with J.D. supporting Elliot's decision to give Sean another chance despite their complicated history.
- While Kim's character is currently excluded from the revival, Batra leaves open the possibility of her return in future episodes.
