3 ‘things I think’ after a Giant flop against the Saints: Is it J.J. McCarthy time?

Key Points:

• A poll shows 81% of New York Giants fans want J.J. McCarthy to replace Jameis Winston as the starting quarterback for the upcoming game against the Houston Texans, but head coach John Harbaugh has yet to make a decision.
• McCarthy entered the game trailing by 24 points and led a near-comeback, throwing for 243 yards in less than a quarter, but also had an interception; Harbaugh praised his performance but remains undecided on starting him immediately.
• The Giants' running game continues to struggle, averaging only 2.4 yards per carry on Sunday with four running backs sharing carries, and no clear lead back emerging, which concerns Harbaugh and the team.
• A critical late first-half sequence, including a negated sack due to a timeout and a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, shifted momentum to the Saints, leading to a 34 unanswered point run and a lost opportunity for the Giants to secure a win.
• Despite leading the NFC East with a 3-2-1 record, the Giants' inability to close out winnable games has left them with a slim division lead and potential regrets over missed chances that could have improved their standing significantly.
