Author Andy Weir Will Write A Project Hail Mary Sequel Under One Condition [Exclusive]
SlashFilm • • entertainment
Key Points:
- Andy Weir is open to writing a sequel to "Project Hail Mary" but only if he comes up with a truly good idea, preferring no sequel over a mediocre one.
- The film adaptation starring Ryan Gosling grossed $684 million worldwide, making a sequel financially viable and likely desired by both Weir’s agents and Amazon MGM Studios.
- The original book and movie have a complete ending, which complicates the prospect of a sequel, especially since Weir would likely follow the book’s ending rather than the movie’s altered conclusion.
- Currently, Weir is working on a new standalone novel, possibly involving artificial intelligence, and has no immediate plans for a "Project Hail Mary" follow-up.
- Fans can purchase "Project Hail Mary" on 4K, Blu-ray, or DVD through Amazon.
