Key Points:
- Trey Thompson, a former four-star recruit for Iowa basketball, played less than four minutes in the team's exhibition win over Illinois Springfield and did not attempt a shot.
- Thompson reclassified to join Iowa early but redshirted last season and has yet to make his official debut, raising questions about his role in his second year.
- Iowa coach Ben McCollum indicated that the rotation is not fixed and playing time is influenced by both objective practice performance and subjective evaluations.
- McCollum emphasized that the season is long and roles could change as the team continues to assess players during practice and games.
