Brandon Woodruff discusses potentially making Brewers' 2026 World Series roster

Key Points:

• Brandon Woodruff, recovering from right shoulder surgery initially scheduled for August, showed surprising improvement in an August scan, leading him to cancel surgery and start a throwing program aiming for a potential World Series return.
• The Brewers face uncertainty about roster decisions for Game 1 of the World Series, as MLB may not allow a substitution for Woodruff due to the preexisting nature of his injury, with a 26-man roster deadline looming.
• Woodruff demonstrated velocity between 90-92 mph in a simulated game against key Brewers hitters, though questions remain about his durability and effectiveness in high-stakes postseason situations.
• Woodruff, a key Brewers pitcher since 2017 with a 55-30 record and a franchise-best ERA of 3.10 over nine seasons, is highly respected by teammates for his perseverance and leadership, regardless of whether he makes the World Series roster.
• The Brewers must decide whether to carry Woodruff on the roster, potentially leaving out either Chad Patrick or Kyle Harrison, while valuing Woodruff's presence and influence on the team's culture and young pitchers.
