CBS Sports reports 'continued momentum' between NC State, Philip Rivers in head coaching search

Key Points:
- NC State continues to pursue Philip Rivers as their top candidate for the vacant football head coaching position, with further discussions between the two sides expected soon.
- Rivers, a former NFL quarterback, has been coaching high school football at St. Michael Catholic in Alabama, where he has improved a previously struggling program and coached his son, a four-star NC State commit.
- Despite Rivers' lack of college coaching experience, experts believe his leadership skills, recruiting connections, and ability to motivate could help revitalize NC State's football program, especially if he assembles a strong coaching and support staff.
- NC State is taking a high-risk, high-reward approach by considering a first-time college head coach from the high school ranks, a move that has rarely succeeded at the FBS level.
- Fans may need to wait until after Rivers' high school playoffs conclude to learn if he will accept the NC State head coaching job.
