Key Points:
- CleanYourTV is an open-source project designed to remove intrusive ads, preinstalled apps, and telemetry services from smart TVs, replacing cluttered home screens with a clean, Apple TV-inspired interface.
- The project began as an experiment by developer Gathin, who used AI tools to disable 25 Xiaomi TV packages and create a minimalist launcher, quickly gaining viral attention and community contributions.
- The latest version, CleanYourTV 3.0, supports 300 TV models from 86 brands, offers smart home integration, ad-blocking controls, remote customization, launcher improvements, and a smartphone setup app.
- CleanYourTV operates via Android Debug Bridge (ADB) without requiring root access, allowing users to disable unwanted packages temporarily and restore original settings if needed.
- While compatible with many Android TV and Google TV devices, some system package disabling may affect essential functions, and ads within streaming apps are not removed; Samsung Tizen and LG webOS TVs are not supported.
