Key Points:
- CNN's Michael Smerconish discussed a controversial bike ride organized by Philly Bike On Your Left, planned to protest Jewish-owned businesses in Philadelphia on the eve of the 88th anniversary of Kristallnacht, a historic night of violent antisemitism in Germany.
- The organizers claim their protest is anti-Zionist, not antisemitic, but their flyer targets multiple Jewish-owned businesses with names crossed out, labeling them "zionist establishments" that "must go."
- Smerconish criticized the protest as hateful speech, noting the First Amendment protects free speech but expressing hope that counter-protesters will outnumber the riders.
- Senator John Fetterman condemned the protest using strong language, calling participants "Hamas lovin', Jew-hating sh*theads on wheels," which Smerconish read on air but did not repeat himself.
- Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and other officials denounced the bike ride as blatant antisemitism aimed at intimidating Jewish businesses, emphasizing there is no place for such actions in the state.
