Dodgers NLDS Game 3 lineup: Shohei Ohtani bats 5th

True Blue LA • October 6, 2026 • general

Key Points:

The Dodgers face a challenging Game 3 against a rested Chris Sale, who held them to just three runs over 16 innings during the regular season, while Shohei Ohtani bats fifth, his lowest lineup spot since 2020.
Manager Dave Roberts is considering moving Ohtani further down the order due to his recent slump, emphasizing he would discuss any changes with Ohtani beforehand.
The Dodgers have struggled to produce hits with runners in scoring position in the series, managing only 10 plate appearances in those situations through two games, similar to the Braves' limited opportunities.
Miguel Rojas is starting again against Sale due to his strong performance against lefties this season, while Kiké Hernández replaces Max Muncy at third base, with Tommy Edman and Will Smith remaining in the lineup despite recent slumps.
Despite lineup tweaks, Roberts stressed the importance of execution and taking good at-bats, noting that key players like Edman have struggled recently, especially against Sale.
