Key Points:
- Sony Santa Monica has delayed the release of God of War Laufey from February 16, 2027, to May 20, 2027, citing the need for additional development time to meet fan expectations.
- The studio plans to share more details about the game soon, possibly at The Game Awards or in a State of Play event before the end of 2026 or early 2027.
- The delay helps avoid a crowded early 2027 release window, giving God of War Laufey and other games more visibility and less competition.
- Some fans have expressed skepticism about the game due to Kratos being sidelined as the main character, increasing pressure on the studio to deliver a high-quality experience.
- God of War Laufey will continue the franchise's story with Laufey as the protagonist and Kratos still playing a role, while a new Kratos-led God of War game is also in development.
