GTA 6 Standard Edition vs. Ultimate Edition: Which Version Is the Better Deal?
PCMag • • technology
Key Points:
- Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, available in two editions: Standard ($80) and Ultimate ($100), with an option to upgrade from Standard to Ultimate.
- The Ultimate Edition offers extra weapons, cosmetics, cars, and exclusive storefronts for character customization and gun modifications, enhancing the gameplay experience beyond the Standard Edition.
- Both editions include preorder bonuses such as retro 1980s-themed weapons, outfits, vehicles, and one month of GTA+ membership for Grand Theft Auto Online.
- Critics note the pricing split reflects a trend of selling additional content separately, with the Ultimate Edition providing mostly supplemental rather than core game content.
- The recommendation is for casual players to start with the Standard Edition and consider upgrading later, while diehard fans may find the Ultimate Edition worth the premium for a fuller experience.
