9to5Mac • • technology
Key Points:
- Apple announced three new Home products: HomeView, HomePod mini 2, and a new Apple TV 4K, but no new full-size HomePod model was introduced.
- Existing HomePod (2nd generation) will receive a free software update adding three features: Sound Glow, default speaker setting for Mac, and surround sound support with Apple TV 4K.
- Sound Glow synchronizes the HomePod’s top lighting with music and album artwork colors, creating a dynamic visual effect also available on HomePod mini 2.
- Users will soon be able to set HomePod as the default speaker for Macs with Wi-Fi 6E or later, enhancing connectivity and audio experience.
- A new surround sound feature allows pairing four HomePods (mini 2 or 2nd gen) with the new Apple TV 4K (4th gen) for immersive home theater audio, expected to launch with iOS 17.2 and HomePod 17.2 updates later this month.
