9to5Mac • • technology
Key Points:
- iOS 27.2, launching next week, includes code suggesting a new Messages app feature that will allow users to exclude muted conversations from the unread badge count.
- Currently, muting conversations in Messages does not affect the unread badge, which can be annoying for users in active group chats or those who mute certain contacts.
- The new feature aims to improve user experience by preventing muted chats from triggering unread notifications, although it may not be available immediately in iOS 27.2.
- This potential update has generated interest among users who prefer to keep notification badges minimal and avoid distractions from muted conversations.
