TechPowerUp • • technology
Key Points:
- Micro Center has reportedly removed the NVIDIA RTX 5090 graphics card from its catalog, fueling rumors that the product is reaching end-of-life status.
- Customers and commentators note the high pricing of the RTX 5090, with workstation and server editions costing significantly more, limiting accessibility for average consumers.
- Observers suggest that supply issues and potential product recalls, possibly related to hardware problems like overheating power connectors, may be contributing to the discontinuation rumors.
- The disappearance of RTX 5090 models from both Micro Center and NVIDIA's official store supports speculation that the card is being phased out, potentially leading to price increases for remaining models like the RTX 5080.
- Some users express frustration over sustained high prices and limited availability, attributing this to NVIDIA's production strategies that restrict old-generation stock to maintain demand for new releases.
