Navy rolls out updates for working uniform and service dress blues
Key Points:
- Sailors E-7 and above fleet-wide, including those in the National Capital Region, are no longer required to wear the Service Dress Blues jacket or Eisenhower jacket indoors, allowing greater flexibility in office settings.
- The black garrison cap is now an acceptable substitute for the combination cover when worn with the Service Dress Blues coat or Eisenhower jacket.
- Starting May 4, Navy Working Uniform (NWU) Type III dress is authorized for wear inside the Pentagon alongside Service Dress Blues, aligning Navy uniforms with other Joint Force members and promoting a warrior ethos.
- NWU Type III is permitted for commuting and office wear within the National Capital Region headquarters unless otherwise directed, but must be in good condition without tears or damage; flight suits remain restricted to flight duty status.
- Service dress uniforms remain mandatory for Navy personnel outside the Pentagon, including at Capitol Hill and official meetings, while those assigned to non-Navy departments must follow their respective leadership's uniform policies.
