Key Points:
- The new Decky Loader plugin, created by Kaal31 and AI, allows Steam Deck users to transform their game mode interface to mimic various console UIs, including PlayStation (PS2 to PS5) and Xbox (Xbox to Xbox 360) styles.
- This plugin enables real-time switching between themes and alters not only the home screen appearance but also organizes game collections and the Steam store to reflect the chosen console’s layout.
- While some themes, like the PSP and Xbox 360 home screens, are praised, others such as the PS Vita theme received mixed reviews, highlighting variability in quality.
- The plugin was developed with significant AI involvement, which raises transparency concerns, but it represents a promising step toward more extensive and immersive UI customization on the Steam Deck.
- Users must manually download and install the plugin from GitHub, and despite some reservations, it is seen as an exciting project that could inspire future fully customizable interfaces.
