Nothing OS 5.0 brings major design refresh and Android 17

• Nothing has announced Nothing OS 5.0, a major update built on Android 17 featuring a visual overhaul with the Geist typeface, translucent layering, dynamic adaptive themes, and dedicated apps for the Glyph Interface and Essential Apps Builder.
• The update introduces new lock screen clock faces, improved home screen customization, new widgets like Collector and Away Time, and enhanced system animations and performance optimizations.
• Android 17 platform features included are split Notifications and Quick Settings panels, cross-platform Quick Share with iOS, enhanced privacy indicators, and other usability improvements.
• Essential AI tools receive upgrades such as faster voice transcription, smarter content organization in Essential Space, and the ability to build AI-powered apps directly on the device with Essential Apps Builder.
• The open beta for Nothing Phone 3 starts tomorrow with a stable release expected mid-October; however, Nothing Phone 1, Phone 2, and CMF Phone 1 will not receive the update as they have reached end-of-support.
