Polygon.com • • technology
Key Points:
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake for Nintendo Switch 2 will require 27 GB of storage, making it over 800 times larger than the original 32 MB Nintendo 64 cartridge version.
- At 27 GB, the remake is the largest mainline Zelda game to date, surpassing the 24 GB size of the recent Tears of the Kingdom.
- Only the upcoming Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment spinoff exceeds the remake's size on Switch 2, with over 43 GB of storage required.
- The increased file size is attributed to the remake's complex art style and expanded game world, despite some controversy over the visual changes.
- The remake launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5 and includes new features such as the ability to jump freely, alongside updated graphics.
