Padres Place Mason Miller On Paternity List

MLB Trade Rumors • October 7, 2026 • sports

Key Points:

Padres closer Mason Miller will miss at least Game 3 due to being placed on the paternity list, with MLB allowing up to three days away if the series extends.
Wandy Peralta has been activated as a temporary replacement and may remain on the roster for Game 4 if Miller is still unavailable.
Miller had an outstanding season, leading the NL with 38 saves, a 1.67 ERA, and a 47.4% strikeout rate, but struggled in a recent two-inning save attempt that led to a walk-off loss.
With Miller absent, Adrian Morejon is expected to be the primary option for save situations, while Craig Stammen, Bradgley Rodriguez, and Jason Adam could also be used depending on game circumstances.
Miller and his wife recently welcomed their first child, which prompted his paternity leave during this crucial playoff series.
