Police Scotland carrying out 'active inquiries' into Andrew Mountbatten
BBC • • world
Key Points:
- Police Scotland is investigating allegations that women were trafficked to Balmoral Castle involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Jeffrey Epstein, and Ghislane Maxwell, with inquiries currently at an early stage.
- Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting sex trafficking trial, and Maxwell, jailed in 2022 for sex trafficking, reportedly visited Balmoral Castle with Mountbatten-Windsor, who denies any wrongdoing.
- Flight logs indicate Mountbatten-Windsor and Maxwell flew on Epstein's private jet to Edinburgh in 2006, and a photo released during Maxwell's trial shows Epstein and Maxwell at Balmoral in 1999.
- The US Department of Justice's Epstein Files include an email referencing Balmoral and "inappropriate friends," suggesting connections between the royal residence and Epstein's network.
- In October 2023, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his "prince" title and announced to be leaving his Windsor residence, Royal Lodge.
