GameRant • • technology
Key Points:
- Sony has announced two new PlayStation Plus game trials available from October 20, exclusively for PS Plus Premium subscribers, featuring Mortal Shell 2 and Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.
- These trials are temporary and do not grant permanent access, with no specified end dates, aligning with Sony's typical approach to game trials.
- Mortal Shell 2 is a standalone sequel to the 2020 soulslike game, featuring an interconnected open world, over 60 dungeons, enhanced combat mechanics, and a unique possession system involving various Shells.
- Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a prequel emphasizing combat and exploration over stealth, marking a shift towards a more action-oriented direction for the series.
- Both games were released in late summer 2026 and are priced below typical AAA titles, with Mortal Shell 2 already offering a demo on other platforms, while Resonance has no prior free trial availability.
