Republican Sen. Collins promotes her 'true blue-blooded Maine'-ness, partnering with ex-Dem Manchin

Key Points:

• Senator Susan Collins is facing a tough reelection challenge from Democrat Troy Jackson, with Collins campaigning alongside moderate former Senator Joe Manchin, who praised her bipartisan efforts and independent stance.
• Collins is emphasizing her independence from Donald Trump, highlighting her willingness to break with him, including voting to convict him in his 2021 impeachment trial, while Democrats continue to link her closely to Trump’s policies.
• Jackson has gained significant fundraising momentum and large crowds at events, criticizing Collins as a "rubber stamp" for Trump and out of touch with Maine’s working-class voters, particularly focusing on her Supreme Court and health secretary confirmation votes.
• Republican attacks on Jackson focus on allegations of a volatile personality and bullying, which he denies, while Collins has distanced herself from negative Republican super PAC ads targeting Jackson.
• Collins, seeking her sixth term, faces a more challenging political environment than in previous midterm elections, with national trends favoring Democrats and a majority of voters expressing desire for change in Washington.
