Seahawks defense ailing ahead of matchup against Chiefs
Field Gulls • • sports
Key Points:
- The Seattle Seahawks have started the 2026 season with a 3-3 record, struggling offensively with turnovers following their Super Bowl LX victory over the New England Patriots.
- Seattle faces a challenging matchup against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, who are 5-0 and have a revitalized offense led by a healthy Patrick Mahomes and free agent Kenneth Walker, the NFL's leading rusher.
- Walker, averaging 133 rushing yards per game, will confront a Seattle run defense that has been elite but is currently dealing with injuries to key linebackers including Drake Thomas, Demarcus Lawrence, and Uchenna Nwosu.
- The Seahawks’ linebacker depth is a concern as several backups are also injured, potentially impacting both defense and special teams in a critical game.
- On offense, Seattle received a boost with full participation from Zach Charbonnet, Anthony Bradford, and Rashid Shaheed, which may aid struggling quarterback Sam Darnold against a top-ranked Kansas City defense.
