The Official Sonic Discord Server’s Launch Went About As Poorly As You’d Expect
Kotaku • • technology
Key Points:
- Sega launched an official Discord server for Sonic the Hedgehog fans to discuss the franchise and connect with other players.
- The server enforces family-friendly rules and bans AI-generated content, aiming to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- Despite these rules, some users have posted inappropriate or controversial content, prompting active moderation and content removal.
- To improve moderation, the server has enabled Slowmode, requiring a two-minute wait between messages to better manage the chat flow.
- There is ongoing debate about whether managing the notoriously unruly Sonic fan community on this platform will be sustainable or effective long-term.
