Trump Lashes Out At NBC News Reporter Over Support For Ramaswamy Ad
Deadline • • general
Key Points:
- President Donald Trump defended a controversial ad by Ohio GOP gubernatorial nominee Vivek Ramaswamy featuring the estranged mother of his Democratic opponent, Amy Acton, who accuses her daughter of lying about her past.
- The ad omits allegations that Acton was sexually abused by her deceased stepfather, who was charged but fled, with Acton and her brother removed from their mother's custody at the time.
- When NBC News correspondent Monica Alba questioned Trump about the sexual abuse allegations, he responded dismissively, called her a "horrible little reporter," and told her to be quiet.
- Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley condemned the ad, urging its removal and criticizing Ramaswamy's conduct.
- Trump's recent confrontations with reporters, including those from NBC, CNN, ABC, and The Independent, reflect a pattern of hostility toward the press during his public appearances.
