Trump Scrambles to Defend Putin and Xi After Damning Revelations

Key Points:

• Former President Donald Trump dismissed reports that Russia and China are significantly aiding Iran in the ongoing conflict, claiming such assistance would be at a very low level or nonexistent.
• Despite Trump's denials, multiple credible sources including the Washington Post, Financial Times, and Wall Street Journal have documented Russian and Chinese support to Iran, including military intelligence sharing and shipments of potentially military-use goods.
• Russian President Vladimir Putin has openly acknowledged providing assistance to Iran, and Chinese companies have been linked to satellite imagery used in attacks against U.S. forces.
• Trump has maintained friendly relations with both Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping throughout the conflict, including hosting Xi at the White House and striking a deal to release Russian diesel into international markets, a move criticized by Ukrainian President Zelensky.
• The conflict, initiated by Trump with expectations of a short duration, has become prolonged and unpopular among U.S. voters ahead of the midterm elections, with economic repercussions adding to public concern.
