- James Brolin nearly became Bond in 1982 but lost out when Roger Moore returned; Sam Neill was favored by the director in 1986 but the role went to Timothy Dalton.
- In 2005, Henry Cavill, Antony Starr, Rupert Friend, and Sam Worthington all auditioned for Casino Royale, with Cavill praised for his performance but considered too young, and Worthington admitted to struggling with Bond’s suave demeanor.
- Footage from past Bond screen tests has leaked online, providing a rare glimpse into the audition process and the actors who almost became the iconic spy.
