What to watch in the Rays-Brewers World Series
WESH • • general
Key Points:
- The 2023 MLB World Series features two franchises, the Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers, both seeking their first championship, a scenario not seen since 1980.
- Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski threw a 105.5 mph pitch in June, tying for the third-fastest pitch in the pitch-tracking era and potentially setting a new World Series speed record.
- For the first time in World Series history, the Automated Ball-Strike Challenge System will be used, allowing players to challenge ball-or-strike calls electronically.
- This year's World Series may be the first to be played entirely indoors, as both American Family Field in Milwaukee and Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg have roofs, with Milwaukee's roof likely to be closed due to weather.
- The postseason has been marked by major upsets, near no-hitters, and remarkable comebacks, including the Cleveland Guardians' comeback against the Chicago White Sox in the ALDS.
