Who is Billy Evans? Meet Elizabeth Holmes’ partner and biotech CEO

Key Points:

• Billy Evans, longtime partner of convicted Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, is portrayed as a controlling and volatile figure in the documentary "You Can See Everything," raising their two children alone while Holmes serves an 11-year prison sentence.
• Evans comes from a wealthy San Diego hotel family, graduated from MIT in economics, and met Holmes in 2017 amid her legal troubles; despite initial family reservations, his father supported Holmes during her trial.
• Since Holmes' incarceration, Evans has been managing parenting and launching a biotech startup, Haemanthus, which aims to develop laser-based diagnostic technology, echoing Theranos' ambitions but with no formal involvement from Holmes.
• Evans and Holmes participated in the documentary to reshape public perception, but Evans' attempts to control the film's narrative strained relations with filmmaker Nathan Fielder, who noted communication breakdowns during production.
• After the film's release, Evans expressed mixed feelings about his participation, while tech entrepreneur Bryan Johnson praised the documentary and Evans' demeanor, highlighting the personal challenges Evans faces amid widespread public scrutiny.
