Wicker star Alexander Skarsgard is doing the best-and freakiest-work of his career.

Key Points:

• "Wicker," directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, features Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård in a fable about a fisherwoman who commissions a wicker golem husband, blending folkloric themes with explorations of marital happiness and gender roles.
• Alexander Skarsgård delivers a nuanced and subtle performance as the Wicker Husband, conveying emotional depth and humanity through physicality and expressive eyes, enhanced by the use of an actual wicker costume rather than motion capture.
• Skarsgård is noted for his fearless and complex portrayals of challenging characters, often exploring dark or complicated roles that defy typical Hollywood stardom conventions, as seen in films like "The Diary of a Teenage Girl," "Pillion," and "Infinity Pool."
• Despite occasional missteps, such as his subdued role in "The Northman," Skarsgård consistently chooses bold, unconventional projects and collaborates with innovative directors, demonstrating a commitment to character-driven storytelling over traditional leading-man roles.
• Upcoming projects like "The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands" continue Skarsgård's pattern of taking creative risks, solidifying his reputation as an actor who invites audiences to engage deeply with the complexities of human nature.
