Key Points:
- The Yankees are focusing on upgrading third base this offseason, with Teruaki Sato, the reigning Central League MVP from the Hanshin Tigers, being a top target; however, the impending MLB lockout could delay or complicate his posting process.
- Aaron Boone is confirmed to remain the Yankees' manager for the 2027 season despite consecutive ALDS losses, with the organization likely to reassess his position if the team fails to reach the World Series again.
- Austin Wells experienced a difficult first half of the season due to cervical headaches caused by multiple foul tips to his mask, leading to an IL stint; his performance prior to injury suggests caution in considering alternatives like Ben Rice behind the plate.
