YouTube might be testing hiding the dislike button
The Verge • • technology
Key Points:
- YouTube is reportedly testing hiding the dislike button on videos by moving it to the three-dots submenu, making it less accessible to users.
- Screenshots shared on social media platforms like X and Reddit show the dislike button either relocated or completely absent for some users.
- The change could reduce the frequency of dislikes since accessing the button would require more effort.
- YouTube has a history of modifying the dislike button, including hiding the public dislike count in 2021 to protect creators and removing the dislike button from Shorts earlier this year.
- It remains unclear how widely this test will be implemented, and Google has not yet commented on the matter.
