Is Keto supported by science?

Is the Keto Diet supported by reliable scientific data that actually measures its impacts on the body or is it a diet trend based on how people "feel" afterstarting the diet?

Great question; there's scientific evidence that backs up ketosis in the body which is what the first is based on (I think) but it screams fad diet to me.

Ketosis does happen in the body. You can lose weight in ketosis but at what cost to your body?

Unequivocally, yes. Keto is short for ketosis, which is the process your body goes into when you stop burning carbohydrates as energy and your body switches to burning stored fat. By definition, the keto diet is one which switches the body into the state of highly efficient fat burning. So to answers your question, yes, it is supported scientifically as well as by the personal experiences of millions of followers.
