This day in history

Some interesting historical facts include:

1729- The town of Baltimore was founded. It's the home of Edgar Allen Poe, Thurgood Marshall and Babe Ruth

1932- Walt Disney's first technicolor short film, Flowers and Trees, premiered at Grauman's Chinese Theater and later earned a nod from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences

1956- "In God We Trust" replaced "E Pluribus Unum" as the motto of the US

1962- At 7821 km (4860 miles), the longest national highway in the world opened. Called the Trans-Canada Highway, it begins at Douglas Street and Dallas Road in Victoria, BC, and terminates at St. John's in Newfoundland and Labrador

1971- Apollo 15 made history when the first lunar rover (moon buggy) landed on the moon. Tomorrow is the first day Astronauts David Scott and James Irwin became the first humans to drive on the lunar surface

2003- The last original style Volkswagen Beetle rolled off the assembly line in Mexico

Some interesting birthday today are:

Emily Bronte (1818)

Henry Ford (1863)

Paul Anka (1941)

Arnold Schwarzenegger (1947) - personally I really like him. He lives up in LA and he was on the news not too long ago, he got fed up waiting for the government to fill a pothole so he just went to Home Depot and got the asphalt to fix it himself.

Laurence Fishburne (1961)

Alton Brown (1962)
